On Monday, April 6, the business I owned and loved for 34 years changed forever. At 8:53 that morning, an electrical fire started in the storage area of the bar. That was the oldest portion of the building—built over 100 years ago as a liquor store—and the wooden interior provided the perfect environment for the fire to ravage. Within just a few hours, every aspect of the bar was touched by the fire and nothing on the main floor was salvageable.

As you can imagine, I was devastated. After some time and reflection, I made the decision to rebuild.

Late last year, the foundation was laid for the new bar. Since then, we’ve been busy bringing our new plans to life.

Here’s a look at our progress.

When we open this spring—tentatively scheduled for Saturday, May 1—you can expect some exciting changes. Besides doubling the size of our deck, we’ll be adding a sliding wall that brings a portion of the bar inside to the outside. We’re also adding an axe throwing lane, so practice up that aim!

2020 definitely handed all of us some tough breaks. We’re hoping 2021 will give us more things to celebrate. We know the perfect place to do it.
